To achieve this, I experimented with printed backdrops and in-camera lens distortions, techniques that added a sense of movement and atmosphere to the studio setup. The result was a series of drinks photography assets that feel fresh, sun-drenched and a little unexpected — giving the gin a vibrant personality in line with its California inspiration.
As a drinks photographer in Ireland, I enjoy exploring creative approaches that combine technical precision with storytelling. This Drumshambo project was an opportunity to push beyond the usual studio style and bring a playful, west-coast mood into the imagery. My aim was to show how drinks photography can go beyond simple product shots, creating visual assets that are expressive, aspirational, and memorable.
